Something About an Owl

Today I saw the owl for the first time.

Soaring over our house

she alighted at the top of the highest tree.

Swaying in the bay breeze

I thought she was a hawk....

then she turned her head and

I saw her snow white face.

I was struck on many levels

by

the mystery

the stillness

the otherworldiness

of her.

I saw the other side

somehow.
